Kramers Weyl semimetals as quantum solenoids and their applications in spin-orbit torque devices

Abstract Kramers Weyl semimetals are that have points pinned at the time reversal invariant momenta. Recently it has been discovered all chiral crystals host momenta, so metals with lattice symmetry belong to category of semimetals. In this work, we show due symmetry, unique longitudinal magnetoelectric effect in which charge current induced spin and orbital magnetization is parallel direction current. This feature allows act as nanoscale quantum solenoids both magnetization. As moving electrons semimetal can generate magnetization, be used for new designs spin-orbit torque devices electric control switching magnets perpendicular magnetic anisotropy.
